Last
September, I received an email from a fellow named Alex
Pardee. Alex wrote that he was a big fan of
my work and asked me if I'd be interested in contributing
to his latest project: a series of four books entitled
"Bunny With". The books will
feature 1000 twisted bunnies!
A month after receiving the email, I did a trade show
called APEX in Los Angeles. To my surprise, Alex was
exhibiting at the table right across from mine. We shook
hands as we introduced each other, and Alex gave me
a bag full of his books. When I got home after the show,
I had a look at his work and was truly impressed. Alex
is quite a talent. Demented, spooky, disturbing, twisted
and unsettling are words that come to mind when looking
at his work (and I mean that as a good thing!).
Anyhow,

We
arrived in Bellingham, Washington! We're unboxing our
stuff and setting up our new house. We live in a nice,
woodsy area, very quiet and inspirational. I'm anxious
to get back to the drawing board. I predict that I'll
come up with some really good stuff in the months (years)
ahead. I'm energized.
To top it all, we just formed a partnership with one
of the best toy companies in the business. We will make
the big announcement very soon. Stay tuned for all the
upcoming details!

is my last signing in the Los Angeles area before our
move to Washington State on November 12th. It also coincides
with the release of Detective Comics #776
which features part one of my demented Batman story.

Ever since
the days of Winsor McCay, the worlds of animation and
comics have been closely connected, with many artists
doing double-duty in both fields.
In this special
ASIFA-Hollywood industry event, we'll take a look at
some of today's top animation artists who also create
their own comics. Among the artists joining us for the
event are Michel Gagné, Mike Kazaleh, Milton
Knight, Mike Kunkel and Gabe Swarr. Animation Blast
editor Amid Amidi moderates this exciting evening of
discussion and idea exchanges. There'll be discussion
about all aspects of the comics field - the economics
of self-publishing, work-for-hire comics based on pre-existing
animated characters, how to create successful properties
and promote your work, and the all-important issue of
distribution. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
If you've
ever thought of publishing your own comic, or want to
hear stories of how other animation artists are finding
success in the comics field, this is a panel well worth
your time.
